Raised Koi Pond

Design & Transformation

What began as an ageing, ground-level garden pond was transformed by TMW Pond Services into a striking new centrepiece designed for both performance and visual impact. The project focused on restoring and upgrading the existing feature, ultimately creating a 25,000-litre raised octagonal koi pond that would improve fish health, filtration efficiency, and the overall viewing experience within the garden.

Over the course of a 6-week programme, the original pond was carefully redeveloped into a raised structure, giving the pond far greater presence within the space while also making it easier to enjoy the fish from multiple angles. One of the standout elements of the build is the infinity viewing window, which creates a seamless visual connection between the pond and the surrounding garden, allowing clear views of the koi and other fish from outside the water.

Advanced Filtration & Aeration

Behind the aesthetics, the project was designed with long-term durability and water quality in mind. The new pond incorporates a series of carefully integrated systems to maintain a healthy aquatic environment and reduce ongoing maintenance requirements. These include two bottom drains to efficiently remove waste from the base of the pond, along with a built-in wall skimmer that keeps the surface clear of debris.

At the heart of the filtration setup is an advanced drum filtration system with a biological chamber, providing both mechanical and biological filtration to support water clarity and fish health. Completing the feature is a stainless steel waterfall blade, which not only adds movement and sound to the pond but also improves aeration within the water.

Project Completion & Results

In just six weeks, the project evolved from a tired garden pond into a modern, high-performance aquatic feature holding 25,000 litres of water. The finished pond now supports a healthy mix of koi, orfe, and grass carp, while significantly enhancing the appearance and enjoyment of the garden space.

The transformation highlights TMW Pond Services’ ability to combine technical pond engineering with thoughtful design, delivering installations that are both functional and visually impressive.
